What makes our soil so special?
It starts out with soils from select local topsoil providers, screened and mixed with compost to create a rich nutrient blend of organic matter for your garden projects. We then boost the soil further with a blend of beneficial fungi, catapulting the microbial activity in our soils to heights only seen on the forest floor. Our soil is alive with mycelium, the beneficial fungi, acting like a neural network mapping out your yard. These mycelium act like a sponge to regulate the moisture in your soils and assist your plants in absorbing the nutrients.
Often overlooked, mycelium, and it’s fruit the mushroom, are one of the most important elements of a healthy eco-system.
What is Mycelium?
The term mycorrhizal comes from the Greek words mykes, meaning fungus, and rhiza, meaning root. Mycorrhizal fungi are fungi that have developed a symbiotic (mutually beneficial) relationship with the root systems of living plants, from garden vegetables all the way up to the trees of the Old Growth forests. Networks of mycorrhizal filaments envelop the seedling’s root structure, supporting the plant’s own ability to utilize water and nutrients in the soil.
This relationship encourages healthy, vigorous growth.
In the urban environment much of this naturally occurring beneficial fungi get destroyed, leaving plants dependent on chemical fertilizers for growth and pesticides to protect them,
it’s a short-term fix, and a costly cycle of spray and repeat.
“Earthly Goods” soils and amendments restore vitality to your environment, helping you to grow healthy plants, lawns, trees, and vegetables.
